How Much Does it Cost to Post Bail?

Bail-Bonds-24-hr-

When a Bail Bondsman puts up a fee for the release of a defendant on bail, the bondsman charges a fee 10% of the amount of money that is required to pay the bail. For example if the bail amount set by the court was $10,000 the fee paid to the Bail Bonds company would be $1,000. This initial fee is not refundable. The 10% fee is required by the surety company and regulated by the California Department of Insurance

Bail Bondsman will sometimes take security against a defendant’s assets (known as collateral) in order to cover the cost of the bail. If the defendant does not have enough assets, then the bondsman can take security against individuals that are willing to assist, such as relatives and friends etc.
